The warning went into effect at 4:12 p.m. and lasts until 4:45 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 2 and came as a severe thunderstorm swept through from west to east capable of producing a tornado.
It was located near Pomona, or 7 miles northwest of Haverstraw, moving east at 15 mph.
The dangerous storm will be near Peekskill at 4:45 p.m., radar indicated.
Residents should move to a basement or an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building and avoid windows.
If you are outdoors or in a vehicle, move to the closest substantial shelter and protect yourself from flying debris.
